About INSPIRE: Kalliope lives with one purpose. To inspire. As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real. Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal. Her presence may inspire genius. But it breeds madness, too.

The TBR Tag

So Rebecca over @ The Library Canary nominated me for this the other day. This tag was created by  Rachel @ A Perfection Called Books and Dana from Dana Square. I'm sure this is going to be super embarrassing and shameful, but I'm doing it. Let's talk about how out of control my TBR is.

How Do I Manage My TBR?

I don't.  Not in the traditional sense.  I do use Goodreads for books that I want to read but not very often.  I also keep up with my TBR on Amazon.....it's the books I want to buy.

167

This is the number of books I have on Goodreads.  The number on my TBR is a great deal higher than this.

Is My TBR Mostly print or ebooks?

EBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can't stop one-clicking those $0.99 specials.
403
You see that number.....I am ashamed by that number.  But not ashamed enough to stop one-clicking books!

How do I determine which book from my tbr to read next?
I am a mood reader so it really just depends on what I want to read.  Sometimes I try to plan books out, but I inevitably end up veering off my list.

A book that’s been on my tbr the longest

The Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking.  I got this when I bought my FIRST Nook.  I am now on Nook number 3.

A book I recently added to my tbr

Rowdy by Jay Crownover because I love my Marked Men!

A book on my tbr strictly because of its beautiful cover
Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff

A book on my tbr that I never plan on actually reading

Payback Time by Carl Deuker

I put this book on my tbr so that I could keep up with what the boys are reading.  (I'm a teacher/now librarian)  It was suggested at a conference I went to years ago for my library certification.

An unpublished book on my tbr that I’m excited for
MORTAL HEART BY ROBIN LAFEVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I still kind of hate you Rebecca for getting an ARC of this book.
A book on my tbr that basically everyone has read except me

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

I know, I know, I know.....I just can't bring myself to read it.  If I read it that means the series is over.
A book on my tbr that everyone recommends to me

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

10194157

I am a huge fantasy lover and I own this entire series, but for some reason, I keep putting it off. And people keep yelling at me about it. Lol. Soon. Hopefully…

A book on my tbr that I’m dying to read

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

I just got my copy in from bookdepository.com!  I love the UK edition!!!!!!!!!!!  I hope to start this one soon.

The number of books on my tbr shelf

This is the number of all the books that I own that I need to read.
616
Shhhh!!!!!!!!!  Don't tell my husband!  He knows I'm a bibliophile.  I NEED to control that one-click finger of mine.

That was fun, if not slightly embarrassing. Thanks for tagging me Rebecca! Now I tag:

Catherine @ A Reader Lives a Thousand Lives
Kristyn @ A Reader Lives a Thousand Lives
But it's not just limited to these two ladies I've tagged! If you want to participate feel free! And send me a link so I can feel better about myself and my out of control TBR.

excerpt
Clamping her eyes on the wash of tears that threatened, Ireland ignored the wailing of her heart … and laid a palm to each of their cheeks. One lone tear snuck between her lashes at the cascade of tingles seeping up her arms.
“You can’t blame them for not understanding,” a familiar voice drawled behind her.
She spun as he neared, leaving Rip and Noah wheezing for breath—or, more likely, completion of her task.
Techno-colored flowers bloomed in a colorless world each time the sole of Ridley’s shoes met the earth. The crisp cut of his white, tailored suit was accented by a burst of color from the button-down shirt beneath that changed in hue to match the species of flowers that sprung to life. Hydrangeas blue. Orchid purple. Lily fuchsia. Rose coral. As he neared, Ireland noticed his eyes morphed to match as well. The result hypnotic.
His haggard and troubled façade was a thing of the past. The man before her exuded confidence and a zest for life from every pore. The draw of which was so magnetic Ireland had to fight to keep her feet planted while her body insisted she close the distance between them.
“To them this is a thrill, a game of chicken against the Reaper himself.” Ridley paused beside her, his shoulder skimming hers. Even then he didn’t grace her with a glance, his attention fixed on Rip and Noah. Tipping his head toward her, the warmth of his breath teased over her breast bone. “For us, it’s destiny.”
The moment he stepped away from her, the chill of solitude lashed at Ireland’s soul and cut deep. Bending eye-level with her withering subjects, Ridley pursed his rose petal lips to blow a soft, healing breath over both of them. Wan complexions of the dying were ripened to plump apricot. Both men blinked away their disappointment before dipping in a low bow—foreheads to the ground in a show of respect.
“No need for that, boys.” Ridley smoothed the front of his suit coat, a self-depreciating chuckle playing over his lips.
Neither humbled servant budged.
“You’re like me?” Pacing in a slow circle around him, Ireland’s eye narrowed.
He matched her steps, leading them in an intimate waltz normally reserved for predators—or lovers.
“Like you?” He tsked. “Oh no, my darling flower. There is no other like you. Our only similarity is being pawns in a game that began centuries before either of our fathers got an amorous gleam in their eyes.”
Ireland’s gaze lingered over the soft curve of his mouth, wondering if his lips could possibly taste as delectable as they looked. “How do we play?”
Curling one finger into a ruffled tuft of her skirt, Ridley pulled her to him. Bowing his head, he brushed his cheek over the delicate curve of her collarbone. “The game is already in motion,” he murmured. “The rule sheet not meant for our eyes. All we can do now is stay alive.”
Ireland weaved her fingers into his hair, yanking his head back with a passion driven force that bordered on violent. “I’ve taken lives. I’m a monster,” she snarled against his lips, tormenting them both with the agonizing veil of energy that denied their touch.
His hand snaked up her arm to find her fingers and loosen her grasp. Palm to palm. Fingers entwined with fingers. “Does granting it make me any better?”
Ridley didn’t give her time to answer. With one hand pressed to the small of her back he crushed her to him.  Their lips met with a desperate urgency that caused Heaven and Earth to quake in nervous anticipation of what was coming …

Mine To Have Blog Tour

Mine To Have
(Mine Series, Book #5)
by Cynthia Eden

Blurb:
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden continues her sexy “Mine” romantic suspense series with…MINE TO HAVE.

Is he a hero…or the villain?

When Elizabeth Ward sees Saxon Black rushing into the backroom of The Blade—a low end bar in Miami—she isn’t sure if he’s there to save the day…or just to raise some hell. But she’s being held hostage, and he’s her best hope of survival. Within minutes, she’s away from the jerks with the guns and riding fast and hard on the back of Saxon’s motorcycle.

Death stalks them.

Saxon has been working undercover for far too long. When he finds sexy Elizabeth—with a gun to her head—he knows he will do anything to keep her safe. But once he gets her away from her abductors, the threat to her isn’t over. Someone has put a price on Elizabeth’s head, and if Saxon can’t keep her safe from the danger stalking her, then she’ll be dead.

Their lives are both on the line.

As their enemies close in, Elizabeth and Saxon must go on the run. And the longer they are together, the hotter their attraction for one another seems to burn. Saxon vows not to let anyone hurt her, no matter what he has to do, because he’s falling fast for Elizabeth. He’ll stop the killers on her trail, and then he’ll have her. Forever.

MINE TO HAVE.

Excerpt

“You can let go now.” His voice was the deepest, darkest rumble she’d ever heard, and it actually took a few seconds for his words to sink in.
When they did, she was horrified. Her hands flew away from him and she shot off that motorcycle. A bad move, really, because her thighs were still shaking from the ride, and Elizabeth hit the ground.
            Smooth move.
She pushed up fast, though, and staggered to her feet. Elizabeth tossed away her helmet and ran.
Unfortunately, she didn’t get far.  A big, strong hand caught her shoulder and spun her around. In the next breath, her back was being pushed into the nearby brick wall, and Saxon had her hands pinned above her head. He held her easily, her wrists trapped in one of his hands.
“Didn’t we cover this?” he muttered, and his voice, if possible, had gone even deeper. “No screaming, no running—”
“No fighting,” she whispered back to him. “You said no…fighting. You never said I couldn’t run.”
He laughed then. A sound that was as deep as his voice and sent shivers racing over her body.
A man wasn’t supposed to laugh when a woman was terrified.  She knew nothing about the guy except for the fact that she’d seen him shoot two men and beat the crap out of at least two more.  And he’d said he…wanted her.
            For an hour.
“Please, let me go.” Elizabeth wasn’t above begging, not then. She just wanted to survive that night. To get back to her apartment and pretend this whole terrible nightmare had never happened.  “I won’t go to the police, I promise. I won’t tell them anything about you.”
His head came closer to hers. She couldn’t discern much about him in that moment, it was too dark, but she’d seen plenty in that terrible little room.
Saxon. He’d been huge, filling that doorway. He had to be at least six foot three, and his shoulders had been so wide, his arms heavy with muscles.  He wore a faded t-shirt and loose jeans. He’d fought with a cold, vicious fury, and he hadn’t even broken a sweat when he’d taken down his enemies.
I thought Kurt was scary. He’s nothing compared to this guy.
“I don’t want to let you go.”
Those words terrified her.  No, he terrified her.  He leaned even closer. She could feel the light stir of his breath against her cheek. She had a flash of being tied in that chair and looking up—and into a pair of dark and deadly eyes.
And I asked him for help?  A desperate woman would do anything.  And she was desperate right then.

Unlit Star Review

Synopsis:

We are not guaranteed anything, not even this life.

Rivers Young is the popular guy untouchable by reality. He is like a star—bright, consuming, otherworldly. The thing about stars, though, is that they eventually fall, and he is no different.

He falls far and he falls hard.

Delilah Bana is the outcast enshrouded in all of life's ironies. Alone, in the dark, like dusk as it falls on the world. When Rivers hits the ground, she is the night that catches him. In the darkness, they meld into something beautiful that shines like the sun.

Only, the greater the star is, the shorter its lifespan.

Review

I absolutely loved this book.  My emotions were all over the place while I was reading and I ugly cried like crazy.  It is not very often that I ugly cry with books.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Rivers and Delilah.  The fact that they were complete opposites who came together to help heal each other had me turning the pages to find out more.  And even more than that....their relationship was BELIEVABLE.

Do yourself a favor and go get this book!  It is beautifully written and will leave you with a major book hangover.

Rating: 5 stars
